Norwalk Bridge To Be Closed For Over 6 Months During Replacement Work: Police

The West Cedar Street Bridge over the Five Mile River is scheduled to be closed from April through November as work to replace it continues.

NORWALK, CT — Replacement of the West Cedar Street Bridge over the Five Mile River in Norwalk has already begun, and the bridge is scheduled to be closed for over six months as a result, according to police.

In a Facebook post, police said the bridge will be closed April 1 through Nov. 30.

According to police, West Cedar Street will be closed to all vehicular traffic between the west side of the westerly intersection of Beechwood Road with West Cedar Street and the west side of the bridge.

There will be accommodations for pedestrians throughout most phases of construction via a temporary pedestrian bridge.

All residents and businesses in this area will have access to their driveways, police said.

"We ask that drivers drive slowly through construction zones and adhere to any on-site traffic personnel and signed detour routes," police said on Facebook.
