Norwalk Brothers Honor Sacrifices with Local "9/11 Heroes Run "

Brothers Michael and Matt Corry–raised in Norwalk and graduates of Norwalk High School–are working to honor fallen soldier Jesse Williams with a local 9/11 Heroes Run that will take place in Cranbury Park on Saturday Sept. 7th, 2013 at 8:00am.  

Williams joined the Army in March 2002, after graduating high school. He was motivated to enlist by a visit to ground zero following the attacks on the World Trade Center on September 11, 2001. 

Before Jesse’s 2nd Tour of Duty, he asked his friend Kevin Mincio to “take care” of his newborn daughter and finance should anything happen to him. Unfortunately Jesse was killed in April of 2007. Williams, whose military awards include two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and three Army Commendation Medals, is survived by his wife Sonya and his daughter Amaya, now 7. Along with Norwalk's Matt Corry, Mincio founded  Team Jesse Foundation. 

Mincio followed a different path to the Army. A Goldman Sachs VP before 9/11, Mincio witnessed the Towers coming down first hand and traded in his banking job for the Army. It was during this time that he met Williams and became both his friend and mentor. 

It was through the promise that Kevin made to Jesse that The Team Jesse Foundation began, and it is now an IRS recognized 501(c)3 charity.
