Norwalk FD, OEM & COSTCO Donate Power Generators
The donations will go to the Norwalk Housing Authority and Person to Person program.

The Norwalk Fire Department and Office of Emergency Management, in partnership with COSTCO, announced Wednesday the donation of five emergency generators to the Norwalk Housing Authority and Person to Person program.
The generators will assist the programs in maintaining self-sufficiency and the ability to meet the needs of clients in instances of power outages.
Four of the generators will go to four Norwalk Housing Authority senior developments to provide lighting and heat in community centers and common rooms that serve 547 senior residents. Those four developments are Irving Freese, Leroy Downs, Ludlow Village, and Senior Court.

The fifth generator will be donated to Person to Person for their Christian Community Action building in South Norwalk to help ensure that perishable donations in their food pantry won’t be impacted during power outages and they can continue to meet the needs of their clients.
"It has been a long standing tenet of Norwalk’s Emergency Management team that the city, its human services agencies, houses of worship, business, and residents should all make plans to be self sufficient as possible in time of disasters," said Fire Chief Denis McCarthy. "Our hope is that these generators will enable the Norwalk Housing Authority and Person to Person to continue to assist their residents and clients during emergencies. These generators will help improve the level of readiness and resiliency of these two community partners."
