Norwalk Land Trust Receives Check To Support NLT's Nature Education Days

NLT's Nature Education Days turn farm Farm Creek Preserve into an outdoor classroom for fourth graders in Norwalk Public Schools.

From Eastern Outdoor Reps Association: Scott Byrne of the Eastern Outdoor Reps Association presents a check for $500 to John Moeling, president of the Norwalk Land Trust, to support the NLT’s Nature Education Days that turn the Farm Creek Preserve into an outdoor classroom for grade four students at Norwalk 12 public schools. Upwards of 700 students visited the preserve last spring and more than 4,000 have done so since the start of the tours. Based in Asheville, NC, the EORA is an association for sales representatives of outdoor products. Its members support volunteer agencies that help young people to develop an appreciation for natural open space and hiking trails. The NLT (www.norwalklandtrust.org) is a nonprofit dedicated to preserving the environment by acquiring natural open space and protecting it for perpetuity. At this time, the NLT stewards 28 parcels covering 98 acres.

The public is invited at no charge to the NLT’s annual meeting April 4 at the Rowayton Community Center (33 Highland Ave.) for a presentation by Dr. Adam Whelchel, director of science at the Nature Conservancy of Connecticut, reporting on studies projecting how rising sea levels might affect coastal communities in Connecticut like Norwalk. His talk starts at 7:30 p.m. to be preceded by cocktails and an introduction by NLT president Moeling.
