Norwalk Man Arrested In Georgia Charged With Sexual Assault: Police

Police said a Norwalk man accused of inappropriate contact with multiple juveniles was arrested in Georgia and charged with sexual assault.

NORWALK, CT — A Norwalk man accused of "inappropriate contact with multiple juveniles" was recently arrested in Georgia and extradited to Connecticut on Tuesday, according to police.

In a news release, Police Lt. Tomasz Podgorski said the department's Special Victims Unit began investigating a sexual assault complaint from the Connecticut Department of Children and Families in November 2023.

According to Podgorski, police determined after further investigation Moises Ruiz, 37, of Norwalk, had inappropriate contact with multiple juveniles, and an arrest warrant was granted by Stamford Superior Court.

During their investigation, detectives worked with a Norwalk police officer assigned to the United States Marshals Service Violent Fugitive Task Force and tracked Ruiz to Gwinnett County, Georgia, Podgorski said.

The United States Marshals Service Violent Fugitive Task Force located Ruiz in Gwinnett County on Jan. 15 and arrested him, Podgorski said.

Special Victims Unit detectives traveled to Georgia on Tuesday and extradited Ruiz to Norwalk, according to Podgorski.

Ruiz was charged with two counts each of fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.

His bond was set at $50,000 and he is scheduled to appear in court this week, according to Podgorski.
