Norwalk Police Detective Retires After 25 Years Of Service

A longtime police detective recently retired after proudly serving the Norwalk Police Department for 25 years, according to police.

NORWALK, CT — A longtime police detective recently retired after proudly serving the Norwalk Police Department for 25 years, according to police.

In a Facebook post Sunday, police said Timothy Marquis was sworn in as a member of the department in November 2000 and served in several divisions throughout his career, including the Patrol Division, Detective Bureau and Special Victims Unit.

Marquis was also honored with many awards for his investigative and police work, according to the department.

He was recognized as "Officer of the Month" on many occasions, including one for his investigation and arrest of a person accused of child trafficking, according to the department.

Marquis was also awarded a Unit Citation, Meritorious Commendation Certificate and a Life Saving Award during the department's annual Police Awards Ceremony, police said.

Marquis also received numerous letters from Norwalk residents and outside organizations "for his professionalism, dedication and compassion during his career," police noted.

"We want to thank Tim for his loyal service which helped to make our department and the city of Norwalk a better place for us all," police wrote on Facebook. "Please join us in wishing Tim the best in his retirement!"
