After his graduation, he was pursuing a professional football career when his extreme speed caught the eyes of the recruiters for the U.S. Olympic Bobsled and Skeleton teams. Andy has attended many sliding camps and has dedicated his training to his new endeavor over the last couple of months. The Western Regionals is a race for anyone wanting to experience what a “real” professional skeleton race feels like. Men and women from all over attended this race to try their luck at skeleton and race alongside veterans of the sport. Andy was pleased with his performance running a 51 on his first attempt, outrunning some of the veterans.

The United States Olympic Skeleton team that is representing Team USA in Beijing is one lone racer, Andrew Blaser. This is the first time that Team USA has only sent one male skeleton athlete to the Olympics. Blaser is a rookie, ranked 28th in the world, who beat out veterans like Austin Florian and John Daly. Andy was able to train with Blaser at sliding camp and hopes to make the US team.
