Norwalk School's Assistant Principal Wins Prestigious Award
Brien McMahon High School's LaShante James has been named the 2025 High School Assistant Principal of the Year by CAS.
NORWALK, CT — The Connecticut Association of Schools has recognized Brien McMahon High School Assistant Principal LaShante James as the 2025 High School Assistant Principal of the Year, district officials announced Friday.
In a news release, district officials said James joined Norwalk Public Schools in August 2016.
She has been a member of the National Association of Secondary School Principals since 2023 and was previously nominated as a CAS High School Assistant Principal of the Year in 2024.

James will be honored at the Norwalk Board of Education business meeting scheduled for Tuesday at 7 p.m., according to the district.
"This award is a testament to your unwavering dedication, visionary leadership, and tireless commitment to the well-being and success of every member of your school community," CAS Deputy Executive Director Karen Packtor wrote in her announcement letter.

In addition to her school leadership responsibilities, James is also the district facilitator for the My Sister's Keeper program in Norwalk Public Schools.
She is the Dedicated CT RISE Administrator and serves as the supervising administrator for social studies, art and music at Brien McMahon, according to the district.
James has also served on numerous equity, inclusion and enrichment committees during her tenure in the district.
James will now be considered for the National High School Assistant Principal of the Year Award by the National Association of Secondary School Principals, according to the district.
