BJs Withdraws Proposal for Main Ave Development
Harry Rilling, Democratic candidate for Mayor, issued a statement thanking everyone who "stood up against BJ's for your neighborhood and for a better Norwalk."

The following statement from Harry Rilling, Democratic candidate for Mayor, was issued Thursday morning, Sept. 19, 2013
"Moments ago BJ's announced that it was withdrawing its application to build at 272-280 Main Avenue. Earlier today I stood in front of that exact lot with members of the Norwalk press and laid out the reasons why I opposed this application.
BJ’s would bring unneeded and debilitating traffic to Main Avenue. Both consumer vehicles and 18 wheeler delivery trucks would add congestion and pollution to the neighborhood. In addition, BJ’s would pay significantly lower taxes than a mixed use development project would in the same location and would only bring in low-wage and part time jobs. Norwalk needs a better vision for development so that our neighborhoods grow in a smart and strategic manner. There must be a higher and better use for this location.
Thanks to all of you who stood up against BJ's for your neighborhood and for a better Norwalk."
