Several Major Changes Announced To Norwalk Schools Calendar

The Norwalk Public Schools announced several changes to the 2025-26 school calendar.

NORWALK, CT — The Norwalk Public Schools announced several changes to the 2025-26 school calendar.

Starting this fall, all kindergarten students will start on the first day of school, Monday, Aug. 25, 2025. There will no longer be staggered entry. The tentative last day of school is Wednesday, June 17, 2026.

After consulting survey feedback from K-5 families and teachers, the board also approved a new schedule for K-5 conferences that occur in November and March. Conferences will now take place over three days with three consecutive two-hour early dismissals.

In November 2025, conference dates will be Nov. 18, 19 and 20 with a two-hour early dismissal on each of those dates (conference night will be held on Thursday, Nov. 20). In March 2026, conference dates will be March 10, 11 and 12 with a two-hour early dismissal on each of those dates (conference night will be held on Thursday, March 12).

"This schedule is designed to make it easier for some families to meet during the school day, especially if their child attends after-school care. It also allows more opportunities for families to meet with multiple teachers on the same day—whether for siblings or for students in Gifted & Talented or Special Education programs—since all teachers will be available in the building at the same time," school officials said.
