She Supports Those Starting Cancer Treatment: Norwalk Hero

NORWALK, CT — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

This submission comes from Jose A Gonzalez who nominated Marie Camacho of Norwalk. Jose's wife "and better half" started the nonprofit One Tough Cookie, Inc., which supports people who are starting cancer treatment.

One thing to know: Marie sets goals and does not stop pressing forward until they are achieved, especially when helping others. She understands that cancer survivors never forget their reality, but the right gesture can be impactful by shining a light on the darkest of days.
