Here’s Why Sam Was Shouted Out As Orange Star Student
We all know students who excel in academic, fine arts or volunteer service. Here's one local resident who is having an impact in Orange.

ORANGE, CT— Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Andrea Aniskewicz who nominated her nephew, Sam, of Orange.
Star local student’s name
Sam
Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
Sam is a conscientious, responsible, kind young man. He loves his many pets and shows his concern for other living creatures by donating pet food and toys to local animal shelters. He often volunteers to help others in his neighborhood. This includes volunteering to play a trumpet solo at his local church Christmas pageant. He shovels snow and rakes leaves for his neighbors. Sam also enjoys volunteering to teach karate at the local community center. He often spends weekends with his dad picking up litter in the park and from the local baseball field. He loves learning about history and goes out of his way to support veterans in his neighborhood. This might include visiting a museum in his neighborhood to hear stories from veterans or writing letters of thanks during the holidays. Sam has a big heart and considers other people's feelings. Recently, he welcomed a new student to his class. This student was new to the country and did not speak English. Sam approached his teachers about ways to make this student feel more comfortable. He asked about ways he could learn his language so they could communicate. I believe Sam is an excellent candidate for Star Student and I am so proud to nominate him.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
He has a big heart and considers other people's feeling just as he did with that new student.
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future,Sam!
