WEST HAVEN, CT - (From West Haven Funeral Home) Donna Marie (McDermott) Post, 60, of Orange, died on June 17, 2022, surrounded by her family. Born in Randolph, Massachusetts on October 27, 1961, a daughter of the (late) John E. and Lorraine (Swart) McDermott of Milton, MA.

In addition to her mother, Donna is survived by her husband of 32 years, Bruce Post; loving children Jennifer Post of Providence, RI, Kristin Post of Norwalk, CT, and Matthew Post of Delray Beach, FL; sister-in-law Rachel McDermott of San Jose, CA; brothers Michael (Lisa) McDermott of Hanson, MA, Dan (Julie) McDermott of Franklin, MA, and Bob (Erica) McDermott of Scituate, MA; ten nieces and nephews; four godchildren; as well as many dear friends, all whom she loved deeply.

In addition to her father, Donna is preceded in death by brother John F. McDermott and nephew John E. McDermott.

Donna graduated from Westfield State University, and shortly thereafter settled in Connecticut; however, she never lost touch of her ‘roots’, nor lost her Boston accent.

Her unending “Boston Strong” love of the Red Sox, Patriots, and Celtics were only surpassed by her love for her family- her role of mom was of highest importance.

Her passion for children and education alike led to her employment at Platt Technical High School of Milford as a coach and paraprofessional. Donna was steadfast in her pursuit of self-improvement, both personally and professionally, as illustrated daily amongst those she cared for.

Considered a “Sista friend” to many, Donna was particularly well known for her quick wit and willingness to lend a shoulder to lean on over a cup of coffee, should one need such. The love, support, and lifelong friendships remained dear to her heart.

Our ‘Wonder Woman’ has now gone before us. As such, words may never articulate the love she offered, nor encompass that which was expressed to her during this sad time.

Arrangements have been entrusted to West Haven Funeral Home at the Green. A wake will be held on Friday, June 24th, from 4:30 to 7:30pm, in the funeral parlor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, June 25th, at 9am, in Holy Infant Church of Orange.

Attendees are asked to meet directly at church. Interment will immediately follow in Orange Center Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be offered in Donna’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
