Evelyn “YiaYia” Daniel McGrath, 103, of Orange beloved wife of the late Harold F. McGrath Sr. passed away on August 5, 2025 surrounded by her family at Yale New Haven Hospital St. Raphael Campus. Loving mother of Kathleen McGrath Camilleri of Orange and the late Harold F. McGrath Jr. Grandmother of Kenneth (Jackie) Mitchell, Kara (Jeff Smith) Mitchell, Connor (Alyssa) McGrath and Patrick McGrath. Great grandmother of Nora and Max Mitchell. Mother-in-law of Dawn McGrath. Evelyn was predeceased by her sisters; Amelia Klarides, Anna Savakis, Catherine Daniel and brothers; Arthur, James and Georgie Daniel. Evelyn was born in New Haven on October 29, 1921 daughter of the late Peter and Efthalia Zoulemides Daniel. Prior to her retirement, Evelyn was a Public Health Nurse for the New Haven VNA. Evelyn was a lifelong parishioner of St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church and choir. She was an avid Yale Athletics enthusiast traveling to many countries with the baseball and football teams. Her passion for nursing continued beyond retirement volunteering whenever needed. Evelyn enjoyed family vacations most notably Maui. She was fondly referred to as YiaYia by everyone who knew her.
Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 830 Jones Hill Rd., West Haven WEDNESDAY, August 13, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. Funeral Liturgy will be held in St. Barbara Greek Orthodox Church, 480 Racebrook Rd., Orange at 11:30 a.m. Interment will follow in Beaverdale Memorial Park. Family and friends may call TUESDAY from 5pm to 8pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
