Frances Mary Maturo Marchitto, 97, of Orange, beloved wife of the late Anthony M. “Sonny” Marchitto, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2025 surrounded by her loving family. Beloved mother of Claudia Sisson and Gina Marchitto both of West Haven, Carl V. (Estelle) Marchitto of Orange, and the late Mark M. Marchitto. Mother-in-law of Colleen Marchitto of West Hartford. Frances is survived by 14 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Sister of Lucille Zemke of Hamden, Philomena Blakeslee of Orange, and the late Peggy Papa. Frances was born in New Haven on August 15, 1928 daughter of the late Charles and Immaculata DePonte Maturo. She was a devout Catholic and was dedicated to her parish, Holy Infant. She served as a Eucharistic Minister, sang in the choir for 25 years, and was a Faith Formation (CCD) teacher for more than 50 years. In 2010, Frances was awarded the St. Joseph Medal of Honor for her dedicated service to Holy Infant Parish. Above all, family was everything to her. Known for her delicious cooking and warm hospitality, she delighted in preparing meals that brought loved ones together. She was most proud of her role as a mother and grandmother, devoting countless hours to cheering on her children and grandchildren in every stage of life.

Her funeral procession will leave the PORTO FUNERAL HOME, 830 Jones Hill Rd., West Haven THURSDAY, September 11, 2025, at 10:30 a.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Infant Church at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Lawrence Cemetery. Family and friends may call THURSDAY morning from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions may be made to Holy Infant Church, 450 Racebrook Rd., Orange, CT 06477.
