Pomperaug Health District Moving to New Location

The department plans to move later this month.

The Pomperaug District Department of Health will be moving its headquarters in Southbury to a new location.

Beginning later this month, the department will be located at 77 Main Street North, Suite 205 of Playhouse Corner in Southbury.  The office will be closed for one day on April 25, and reopen for normal business on Monday, April 29.

Residents of Woodbury, Southbury and Oxford in need of health department services are welcome to visit the Health District’s headquarters during normal business hours:  Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

According to the health department, in addition to a full range of environmental services, such as well, septic, and groundwater monitoring, public bathing water testing, and food service regulation, health officials also inspect day care centers, track and report communicable diseases, and collaborate with state and local labs for animal (rabies) and tick (Lyme) testing. 

The Health District also conducts a broad range of clinical preventive services, such as flu clinics, blood pressure, cholesterol, and skin cancer screenings, health education, and Chronic Disease Self Management programs.
