Bisé Owner Recommends Summer Items As Semi-Annual Sale Kicks Off

The owner of Bisé, Cassandra Van Cott, said her store often gets overlooked because of its location, even though it's been in the Marketplace at Copps Hill Common for about two years.

"I think they think it's all just food (in Copps Hill Common)," Van Cott said.

But when she recently placed racks of clothes out front, more customers began coming in to browse the boutique's selection.

Van Cott listed off several of the store's popular items.

  1. "Crocheted necklaces have been really popular," Van Cott said. They're priced at $29.
  2. Wrap bracelets and necklaces.
  3. Swimwear is a hit because the shop is one of the few places in Ridgefield to carry swimsuits, Van Cott said.
  4. Soup baubles, which make good gifts because "they look like jewelry," Van Cott said.
  5. Reversible dresses, which range from $150-180 in price, as well as reversible skirts and more casual dresses, are "just cool, they're easy to throw on," Van Cott said.
She said many of her customers are people looking for quick buys.

"It's just a good place to get a hostess gift, or (if you're going out, to buy) blouses to throw on," Van Cott said.

Most of the store's items are priced below $100, Van Cott said.

Although she opened the store during the recession, she said business on average has been doing well, though "some days are trying."

The semi-annual sale at Bisé, located at 109 Danbury Road, began Thursday and will run for about a month, Van Cott said.
