Researching Our Roots - Digging Deeper

Are you interested in building your family tree? Join instructor and researcher Sarah Miller as she presents strategies, tips, and tools to begin your ancestral research or address roadblocks using a variety of online sources. We will focus on American records available and how to locate them. She will also present a case study of how she solved a difficult family mystery, and will introduce international research. She will also discuss strategies to feel confident in sourcing your research.  The presentation is followed by guided research time with access to paid genealogical subscriptions. Please bring family documents and information, as well as a tablet or laptop. Zotero - a free and powerful research tool

Introduction to Zotero
This introductory course will teach you to master Zotero, a free and powerful research tool. Learn to effortlessly collect, organize, and cite sources from the web. We will cover creating bibliographies in various citation styles and integrating with word processors for seamless paper writing. Also using Zotero for class notetaking. Works with Google Docs too. Instructor Charles J Greenberg is an experienced academic librarian with long-term appointments at both Columbia and Yale Universities. He was the founding Library Director of Wenzhou-Kean University in Wenzhou, China from December 2013 to June 2019. He then joined the Rowan-Virtua School of Osteopathic Medicine as Health Sciences Library Director from January 2020 to November 2023. He currently is a lecturer at Camden County College, teaching English Composition, as well as a lecturer for the School of Information for San Jose State University, where he has taught online medical and health sciences information topics since 2007.
