RIDGEFIELD, CT — The Town is warning residents of an elaborate scam that could leave them $123 lighter.

Residents have been receiving the "recorded deed notice" via mail from the scammer, "Property Site," according to Town officials. Reproduced below, the notification advises the property owner to obtain a copy of their Property Assessment Profile from the scammer, for a fee of $123.

The notices include a pay-by-phone telephone number. A response deadline creates a sense of urgency.

The Town of Ridgefield is reminding residents on social media that the same information is available in the Town Clerk’s office for no charge.

"If you have questions or concerns, please call our office. Do not mail or give money to anyone!" Town officials advise.
