Letter: 'Ridgefield’s Great Fortune: State Rep. Aimee Berger-Girvalo'

State Representative Aimee Berger-Girvalo has produced more good and returned more benefits to Ridgefield in just her first 2 years serving as Ridgefield’s State Representative than her predecessor produced/returned over the preceding 10 years.

Aimee has been endlessly attentive to the needs of Ridgefield and its residents, securing state funding for health-critical Ridgefield Public School HVAC upgrades, for the Ridgefield Boys & Girls Club, for Ridgefield Public School playgrounds, for Ridgefield Public Schools mental health programs, for the Ridgefield Playhouse, and for numerous other local needs.

When a Ridgefield resident highlighted the financial hardships that accompany the emotional trauma of stillbirth, Aimee dove in and led the successful effort to pass legislation addressing that need. When Ridgefield residents decried the reversal of Roe v. Wade, Aimee spearheaded the successful effort to expand protections for access to reproductive healthcare in CT. In repsonse to Ridgefielders’ concerns about affordability, especially the concerns of senior citizens, Aimee helped deliver tax relief targeted to seniors and property owners. To aid affordability for families, she helped deliver increased child tax credits.

Aimee helped pass the largest, most middle class-focused tax-cut in CT history. She helped suspend 100% of the state gas tax. She helped pass state budgets that are paying down state pension liabilities accumulated over the preceding 4 decades, reversing the policies of the last two Republican governors who negligently ignored those metastasizing liabilities for 20 consecutive years!

Instead of acknowledging Aimee’s outstanding, unprecedented performance and success as Ridgefield’s state representative, local Republicans have engaged in a continuous and baseless smear campaign against her since before she even took office. Virtually every claim that local Republicans and the 2022 Republican candidate have made about her are bald-faced lies, 180 degrees removed from truth or decency. Adopting the depraved tactics of their national and state party, local Republicans and the Republican candidate have shamelessly defamed Aimee with falsehoods so egregiously transparent and so easily disprovable that one wonders how their noses don’t now stretch the distance from Cass Gilbert Fountain to I-84.

Vote for Aimee Berger-Girvalo so she may continue to deliver the very best representation in Hartford that Ridgefield has ever enjoyed.
