Letter: 'We Need Bob Now More Than Ever'

My family and I moved from NYC shortly prior to the pandemic. We moved here for the schools, the two-acre lots, the open space and the small-town charm. We were glad to leave the concrete jungle and congestion behind. Unfortunately, I fear that the quaint town we moved to, the town we planned to raise our kids in and retire in, is going to look like what we left behind unless we send a true advocate to Hartford that will push back. So far this hasn’t been the case.

Local control over our land use has been handed over to Hartford allowing them to dictate what to build and where without taking into consideration resident input, nature, town character or congestion. I find this very troubling; most residents do. In the last three years since I have lived here, traffic has become significantly worse not only on Main Street but on Danbury Road and Route 7. As a parent, I am also very concerned about the safety of children heading to town after school.

I am voting for Bob because I know Bob will look after us, advocate for us and not bow down to Hartford. Bob is equally concerned about preserving our natural beauty and building smart not forced overdevelopment. He has the professional experience and love for this town to get the job done. In fact, as a Selectman, he just proposed an alternate affordable housing plan because he wanted to ensure there was a better balance and that our needs were better represented.

Bob will be a representative in the true sense of the word. We need him looking out for us in Hartford otherwise Ridgefield will become more like the cities we were trying to escape. Vote for Bob. We need him now more than ever.
