The Ridgefield Chamber of Commerce is hosting its second annual Chair-ish Ridgefield art program between now and July 20.
The goal is to raise money to promote Ridgefield as a tourist destination through a creative art fundraiser. People buy an Adirondack chair and decorate it by July 17, a few days before Ridgefield Summer Fest. During Summer Fest on July 20, the decorated chairs line Bailey Avenue, which is closed to car traffic, as is Main Street, to make way for the festival.
"Last year we got amazing talent," said Marion Roth, executive director.
The chairs are then auctioned off to raise money for, "Destination Ridgefield," a chamber program to market and promote Ridgefield tourism. Roth said the chamber worked on this program for five years before launching it in 2012.
The first step will be the state of the art interactive "Visitor Center." It is a web site about to launch designed to attract tourists to Ridgefield.
