RHS Students Tag-Team Car Wash for Relay for Life

About a dozen Ridgefield High School juniors spent Sunday afternoon luring cars into the Party Depot parking lot to wash them and raise money for Relay for Life.
The students merged several Relay for Life teams to give them enough workers to make cleaning the cars on Sunday quick and easy.
"I think we made over $300 so far," said Aimee Manderlink, one of the team members at about 2 p.m. The students planned to quit then, but they decided to keep going as long as cars pulled in.
Christina Gramling, also a junior at Ridgefield High School, has been walking for Relay for Life since 2001, which is when her mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. "I just wanted to find a cure," Gramling said.
She recruited friends, and her friends recruited friends, and she's been helping raise money for Relay since then.
Robert Jones, (also a junior at Ridgefield High School,) is the team recruitment chair for Ridgefield Relay for Life.
"I just wanted to get more involved," Jones said. The money raised is given to the American Cancer Society, which uses it for research and to help families through cancer treatment.
