Ridgefield Business, Church Helping Harvey Victims

Another group of Ridgefielders are rallying to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey. Here is how you can help.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — As relief efforts continue in Houston, another group of Ridgefielders are aiding in the recover of the nation's fourth-largest city. The Jesse Lee Church and Ridgefield Hardware store are teaming up to sell buckets of relief supplies to send to Houston.

According to the church website, the five-gallon buckets contain laundry detergent, dish soap, household cleaner, air freshener, insect repellent, cleaning wipes, sponges, scouring pads, clothespins, clothesline, trash bags, dust masks, rubber gloves, work gloves, and a scrub brush.

Last week, two local business owners teamed up to deliver supplies to Houston to help with the relief efforts. The former category four storm dropped over 50 inches of rain and led to the deaths of 15 people including a Houston police officer.

They cost $52 and can be purchased at Ridgefield Hardware. The Jesse Lee Youth Group will assemble the buckets and they will be distributed by the United Methodist Committee on Relief. The sale is not a fundraiser.

You can sponsor a bucket until Sept. 22, and they will be shipped by Sept. 30.
