Ridgefield Christmas Tree Farm Offers Exceptional Service, Sense of Camaraderie

Tubby Tim's Tree Farm is located next to the Limestone Service Station on Rt. 35 in Ridgefield and offers Christmas trees, wreaths and more.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — In an unassuming lot on the side of a busy road, sits a warm and inviting Christmas tree farm that offers top notch service from a group of "lads" and "young lads," as they like to call themselves. What's the difference between a "lad" and a "young lad?" A young lad has only been with the farm for three years or less and the ones who are with Tubby Tim's for more than three years are lads.

Tubby Tim's Tree Farm is located right next to the Limestone Service Station on Route 35 in Ridgefield and is owned and operated by local realtor Tim Dent and his wife Mary. The farm sells Christmas trees, wreaths,, kissing balls and more and was established in 2006.

"Tubby Tim's is a name my husband came up with. I'd never say that but he can poke fun at himself," Mary laughed.

Besides a wide variety of Spruce, Blue Spruce, Balsam Furs and many other full and fragrant Christmas trees, you'll find a sense of camaraderie and team work not often found at big box retail stores. Matt Walsh, a Wilton resident and 14-year veteran of the Christmas tree trade, told Patch that the team is a hardworking, close-knit bunch that thrives on teamwork. Walsh rallied the team for a mid-shift pep talk to get the cordial crew pumped up and ready for their next wave of customers:

"Most ships are made of wood, this ship is made of brothers, tree lot! Tree lot! Tree lot," they all shouted in unison. See video here.

"This is a lifestyle. We have tough crews. Hard is the difference between us and them," Walsh said. "I don't know many guys that would get up at 6 a.m. to unload hundreds of trees from an 18-wheeler the morning after Thanksgiving. But we do."

The tree farm will be open now through Christmas Eve, seven days a week from 8 a.m. until 9 p.m.
