At the Board of Finance (BOF) meeting on Tuesday night, the BOF did not take a vote on the special appropriation of funding for the Ridgebury Elementary School (RES) roof as anticipated because the bond language had not yet been received or voted on by the Board of Selectpersons (BOS).

Bond language is the language used for a Town Meeting vote. The language, which is drafted by Bond Counsel, must first be approved by the Board of Selectpersons, and then by the Board of Finance before finally moving to a vote by residents at a Town Meeting. A special BOS meeting has been scheduled for January 3, 2025, for the approval of the bond language. At that time, the BOS will also set a date for the Public Hearing and Town Meeting.

The RES roof repairs are being prioritized due to the urgency of the situation. An evaluation of the roof is scheduled for Friday, December 27th. The plan is to strip the gymnasium roof during April break when the building is not in use. If needed, work will continue into the following week, limiting use of the gym during that time. The remainder of the RES roof will be replaced this summer as previously scheduled.
