Plant-based news is getting a lot of play in the media lately, as research evidence supporting plant-centric diets mounts and celebrities, politicians and athletes jump on the bandwagon. This isn't the latest food fad, however, but an age-old and delicious way of eating that ethnic culinary traditions worldwide have embraced for hundreds of years. A diet rich in unprocessed plant foods strengthens our bodies' innate abilities to stay healthy, lose weight, and recover from illness if we've been stricken by a very long list of diverse chronic diseases, including heart disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes, obesity, and many autoimmune conditions.
The cooking demo will showcase a fast and easy, colorful mixed bean chili served on freshly toasted corn tortilla chips. All made from veggies, beans, corn, herbs and spices, they contain no added fats, oils, nuts, refined flours or gluten. You'll sample, go home with recipes, and learn how to use this no-oil cooking technique in your own kitchen.
Let Go of the Past
with Clinical Psychologist Stacy Raymond, Psy.D.

Dr. Raymond will discuss two research supported techniques that quickly and effectively reduce anxiety and negative emotion in the moment. Inner Balance (TM) is a biofeedback app anyone can use at any time for instant stress relief. By measuring your heart rhythms, it gets your heart, mind and emotions in sync to improve health, wellbeing and performance. EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), on the other hand, is a revolutionary energy psychology approach offered by a trained therapist. You will learn how painful memories are stored in the brain, why they get "stuck", and how EMDR liberates them so they no longer present as flashbacks, nightmares or intrusive thoughts.
