Ridgefield Special Town Meeting on 'The Barn' Lease Agreement

The proposed lease is between the Town of Ridgefield, as Lessor, and the Ridgefield Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield as Lessee.

Ridgefield, CT — The Board of Selectmen meeting originally scheduled for Wednesday, July 6, 2016 has been canceled.

The Town of Ridgefield Board of Selectmen will hold a Special Town Meeting at 7:30 p.m. on July 6, 2016 at the Ridgefield Town Hall, 400 Main Street, Ridgefield, Connecticut, in the large conference room, pursuant to Section 3-9 of the Ridgefield Town Charter and Section 7-163e of the Connecticut General Statutes to act on the Lease Agreement for the Teen Barn at Six Governor Street, Ridgefield, CT, between the Town of Ridgefield, as Lessor, and the Ridgefield Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield as Lessee.

According to the Ridgefield Youth Commission's website, The Barn is owned and operated by the Town of Ridgefield and serves as a local teen center that engages kids from ages 13-17 in a variety of after school activities. The Barn is located at 10 Governor Street (in the Veterans Park Elementary School parking lot).

"The Barn Teen Center has been available to all Ridgefield teens free of charge for 18 years. It serves as a second home for many, where high schoolers gather with friends and engage in unstructured activities, such as pool, arcade or video games, cooking, drawing, participating in Magic Card and Yu Gi OH tournaments, Friday night Rock Houses, Open Mic nights, and Lock-ins."
