Ridgefield Theatre Gets Grammy Nomination For 2021 Album: Report
Ridgefield's ACT produced a cast album for its February show, and the album has been nominated for a "Best Musical Theater Album" Grammy.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Earlier this year, Ridgefield's ACT (A Contemporary Theatre) turned its February production into a movie complete with a cast album — and now, that album is Grammy-nominated, CT Insider reported.
The theatre company put on Stephen Schwartz's "Snapshots: A Musical Scrapbook," and its cast album has been nominated for a "Best Musical Theater Album" Grammy.
And it's in good company — fellow nominees in that category include "Les Misérables: The Staged Concert," which was recorded live in 2020, and a recording of Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Cinderella."

ACT Co-Founder Daniel C. Levine told CT Insider that "Snapshots" was originally supposed to be a stage production, but when COVID-19 prohibited theaters from allowing audiences to attend shows in-person, they decided to film a movie, and create the cast album, instead.
"We turned the stage of ACT into a COVID-safe makeshift recording studio," Levine said. "We adjusted our filming schedule so we could bring the cast into the theater to make the album. We miraculously were able to complete the recording in just two days."
