Rigefield's Southwest Cafe Hosts 5K Margarita Run to Benefit Sunrise Cottage

The 5K benefits Ridgefield's Sunrise Cottage, a nonprofit devoted to enriching the lives of people with disabilities and their families.

RIDGEFIELD, CT — Southwest Cafe is busy planning their 10th Annual Southwest Cafe Margarita 5K on July 30. The sunset 5K that gets its name for the refreshing margarita at the finish line is a benefit for Sunrise Cottage, a housing community for residents with disabilities.

Ridgefielders of all ages are welcome to run, but the free margaritas at the finish line are only for runners who are 21 and over. This year’s race will take place on Saturday, July 30 at 7 p.m. at 109 Danbury Road, Ridgefield. Register here.

5K Entry Fees:
  • $25.00 pre-registration (May 5 – May 31)
  • $28.00 registration (June 1 – July 29)
  • $30 Race Day
** Dri-Fit shirts to first 300 registrants and as supply lasts on race day **
5k Awards:
  • Top Male & Female Finishers
  • Top 3 Male & Female in Age Groups (9 & under, 10-13, 14-18, 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, 70+)
  • All award winners receive a Southwest Café margarita glass commemorating the restaurant’s 29th anniversary.

Race Course:
This is a flat and fast USATF certified course. The course is an out and back on South St. Runners will pass behind Union Savings Bank, turning right onto Farmingville Rd., left on Limekiln Rd., left on Lee Rd., and then right onto Famingville Rd., right on Noran's Ridge, around the loop, back out to Farmingville, and left onto the South St. by-pass to the finish.
