Spending Freeze On At Ridgefield Public Schools: Report
The district has been on a spending freeze since Sept. 18.

RIDGEFIELD, CT —The Ridgefield Public Schools have put a spending freeze on "controllable" spending accounts, reports the News Times. Facing a deficit of $1.1 million, Superintendent Karen Baldwin enacted the freeze on curriculum, technology, building repairs, projects and cleaning supplies.
Baldwin said she hopes the freeze will allow the district to more carefully evaluate expenditure requests. The freeze went into effect on Sept. 18.
Unplanned out-of-district placements required by law make up for the largest portion of the deficit, reports the publication.
