
A Middle School Study-Skills Workshop is being held at the Boys and Girls Club of Ridgefield. The Boys & Girls Club of Ridgefield program starts at 6 p.m. Monday at 41 Governor St., Ridgefield, and it will be led by Successful Study Skills 4 Students (S4), a highly effective evidence-based study skills program for middle-school students. The program is open to all students rising into grades 5 through 8. Your student will learn how to apply these study skills to their academic work, equipping them to start the new school year with a clear understanding of how to study efficiently and effectively.
St. Mary's Parish, Ridgefield is hosting, Marriage: The Catholic View versus the View from the Courts at 6:30 a.m. Saturday. Both Catholic Clergy and retired Judge Joe Bellacosa will present recent political developments and talk about the trends and what it might mean to Catholics. They will review the Catholic sacramental basis of marriage between a man and woman. How can we reconcile conflicts of religion with the civil view of marriage? Let the Parish know if you're coming so they can have enough juice, coffee and bagels on hand.
The Ridgefield Playhouse presents, "Echoes of Sinatra Starring Steve Kazlauskas," at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at the playhouse. Steve works as a solo performer, and also with big bands throughout the USA. He has performed his show "Echoes of Sinatra" at Mohegan Sun, The Count Basie Theater and various other venues from Vancouver to Los Angeles, and from West Palm Beach to New York. The show features renditions of Frank's classic hits, and a journey into how Sinatra made this his world.
The Ridgefield Playhouse presents Mary Chapin Carpenter and Marc Cohn at 8 p.m. Sunday. Mary Chapin Carpenter and Marc Cohn will share the stage for a series of special shows this summer. Mary Chapin Carpenter is known for her blend of pop, folk and country style music. With hits like “Passionate Kisses” and “He Thinks He’ll Keep Her,” she has won five Grammy Awards (with 15 nominations), two CMA awards and two Academy of Country Music awards. Marc Cohn is best know for his Grammy-award winning ballad “Walking in Memphis,” and is one of his generation’s most compelling singer/songwriters.
