At the Town Meeting on Wednesday, residents of Ridgefield voted to accept a donation of 1.03 acres of land on Ketchum Road for Open Space, and approved the proposed ordinance for Line of Duty Death Determinations. Information about both items can be found on the Town Website.
A Public Hearing followed the Town Meeting at which Tracy Seem and Steven March from the Ridgefield Historical Society talked about the proposed Old Branchville Road Schoolhouse Lease. There will be a Special Town Meeting on at Scotts Ridge Middle School on October 9th at 7:30pm for a vote. A copy of the lease can be viewed on the Town Website.

There was also a Board of Selectpersons Meeting, which began prior to the Town Meeting and resumed after the Public Hearing. Below are the highlights.
- Congratulations to Lynn Tidgwell on her appointment to the Prevention Council, Nicholas Catino for his appointment to the Arts Council, and to Dylan Mindich, Paul Gheradi, & Brian Derosier on their appointments to the Golf Committee. The Town thanks you all for volunteering your time!
- The BOS voted to recommend that the Ridgefield Commemorates America at 250 Committee to join the Friends of Ridgefield Community Programs. Friends of Ridgefield is a 501c3 created as a separate entity from the Town to facilitate fundraising for non-profit organizations. Ridgefield Commemorates America at 250 is in charge of organizing events and activities starting on July 4, 2025 and continuing through July 4, 2026. This year long celebration is in honor of America’s 250 years of Independence. Joining Friends of Ridgefield will open many fundraising doors for the committee.
- The Board voted to change the Forms of Government (FOGc) Task Force to a committee. As an official Town Committee, the FOGc will be required to follow the BCC rules and regulations stated in the Charter. The FOGc is charged with exploring other variations of government structures and providing a recommendation to the BOS. No changes can be made to Ridgefield’s form of government without a Public Hearing and Town Meeting.
