U.S. Army Veteran Richard B. Becht, 69, Formerly of Ridgefield, Passed Away

Richard and his family resided in Ridgefield, Connecticut, for many years before relocating to Pocono Farms Estates in 2005.

Ridgefield, CT — Richard B. Becht, 69, of Tobyhanna, formerly of Ridgefield, Connecticut, passed away suddenly Saturday evening, July 9, 2016, at Pocono Medical Center, East Stroudsburg.

Born in Brooklyn, New York, on Jan. 23, 1947, he was a son of the late John and Rose (Taylor) Becht. Richard graduated from Sachem High School, Sachem, New York, and served his country in the U.S. Army.

Following his honorable discharge, Richard attended Farmingdale State College, Farmingdale, New York, and C.W. Post College in Brookville, New York, earning a degree in art. He was employed as a records manager in the nuclear power industry and held that position with Stone & Webster Nuclear Power Co. and the New York Power Authority. Richard and his family resided in Ridgefield, Connecticut, for many years before relocating to Pocono Farms Estates in 2005.

Richard loved to read, dance, and spend time with his family and friends. He enjoyed being socially active within the Pocono Farms Country Club.

Surviving is his loving wife, Linda Becht of Tobyhanna; his daughter, Jillienne Becht and her companion, Tom McDonald, of Southbury, Connecticut; his brother, Raymond Becht and his wife, Marilyn, of Centereach, New York; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and grandpuppies Zeus and Grace.

A gathering for family and friends will be held from 10 a.m. until noon Thursday July 14, at Yanac Funeral

& Cremation Service Inc., 35 Sterling Road, Mount Pocono. Entombment with Army military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Friday July 15, at Calverton National Cemetery, Calverton, New York.
