Description: The best middle school and high school band around will rock out at the Playhouse during Ridgefield BandJam 2013. What began as a charity event for The Playhouse has become a much anticipated competition where middle school and high school students perform before a panel of industry professionals for the title of BandJam Winner. Ridgefield: Tenth Anniversary Spring Fling

Katonah: Six Ladders Opens at KMA

Description: Bright swaths of vibrant colors transform the Katonah Museum of Art’s exterior beginning this Sunday, April 21st with the opening of its newest outdoor exhibition, Six Ladders by artist Andrea Lilienthal.  Lilienthal created a series of giant bamboo ladders for the Museum’s stately Sculpture Garden that are whimsical and enigmatic; their brilliant colors electrifying the natural surroundings.

Bethel: Bethel Blooms Craft Fair

Darien: African Art Show

Where: Darien Nature Center

Description: "Come see the opening of a unique art, prints and textiles exhibit and shop elegant product from across the Continent. Sales benefit Thanda's work to care for and educate HIV/AIDS orphans in South Africa and Unite's work to advance women's health, education and microfinance programs across East Africa."

Fairfield: McKinley School Carnival

Greenwich: Paper Shredding—Shred Sensitive Documents

Description: Greenwich Recycling Advisory Board and Greenwich Green & Clean with The First Bank of Greenwich & Santaguida Sanitation are holding the shred fest for sensitive documents and papers.

Greenwich: Emergency Animal Response Service 

Where: Choice Pet, 80 E. Putnam Ave., Greenwich.

Description: The Emergency Animal Response Service (EARS) was formed based on similar efforts undertaken with specialized teams dedicated to animals in disasters. Members of EARS have the specialized expertise, knowledge, training, and resources in both animal and emergency response fields to provide a dedicated focus on animals in need during disasters. Learn how to prepare your family's pet before disaster strikes.

New Canaan: The Wolf Conservation Center Visits

Newtown: BubbleMania!

Description: The Newtown Junior Women’s Club (NJWC) is pleased to present international comic bubble artist, Casey Carle, the mastermind of BubbleMania.  This soapy spectacular combines visual comedy, quick wit, and Big Band music with beautiful bubbles, creating an interactive treat for the whole family!

Norwalk: Steampunk Exhibit Opens

Where: Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum, 295 West Ave .

Cost: Admittance is $10 for adults, $8 for seniors and $6 for children. Children under 8 are admitted free. 

Description: Art called steampunk has influenced everything from product design to fashion to fine art and will be on display at the Lockwood-Mathews Mansion Museum.

Stamford: The Art of Bonsai

The Drifters Coming to Trumbull

Description: The Trumbull High School Golden Eagle Marching Band proudly presents Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Charlie Thomas and The Drifters. When the "Five Crowns" appeared as an opening act at the Apollo Theater in the late ‘50’s, it was Thomas’ voice that George Treadwell heard before he fired his famous group, The Drifters.  He hastily recruited "The Crowns" to become the new "Drifters.”  The new Drifters first release was in 1959, a song called "There Goes My Baby."  I am sure that there is no need for you to wonder what Thomas’ is up to these days, because "The Drifters" songs are still alive and well. In 1988 Charlie Thomas, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.  Thomas also received the Rhythm and Blues Award in 1999 for lifetime achievement and was inducted in the Vocal Hall of Fame in 2000.

Weston: WestonArts Celebration of the Arts

Wilton: "Enchanted April" Opens

Description: Feeling lost in their marriages and within the rapidly shifting social currents of post-WWI London, two unhappy middle-class housewives rent a villa in Italy for an impulsive holiday away from their everyday lives, reluctantly recruiting a pair of independent upper-class women to share the cost and experience. There, among the wisteria blossoms and Mediterranean sunshine, all four clash – and then begin to bloom – rediscovering themselves in ways that they never could have imagined.
