Car Fire Reported At Parking Lot Of Big Y In Rocky Hill

ROCKY HILL, CT — The Rocky Hill Fire Department responded to the parking lot of Big Y World Class Market, 1040 Elm Street, for a report of a car fire at 3:22 p.m. Wednesday.

"Upon our arrival, we found a passenger car with a rapidly spreading engine compartment fire. The vehicle was parked in the customer parking lot with several other vehicles in close proximity that were being moved by bystanders," fire officials said. "The vehicle fire was quickly extinguished by fire department personnel without damage to the exposed vehicles."

Fire department units remained on scene for about 45 minutes. There were no injuries reported and the Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.
