“The operator accelerated, began making unsafe lane changes, and driving in both shoulders and gore areas of the highway,” police wrote in a news release. “Due to the hazard posed to the public by the reckless operation by the operator, the Trooper terminated attempts to stop the eluding vehicle after obtaining the vehicle's registration.

“Troopers followed up at the registered owner's address, where they were able to speak with family members of the operator.”

The driver was identified as 22-year-old Shoaib Noori of Meriden. Noori later returned to the residence to speak with troopers and was driving the BMW that had been involved in the incident, according to police.

Noori was arrested and charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, disobeying the signal of an officer, failure to maintain lane, reckless driving, passing on the right, and interfering with an officer.

He was released after posting a $2,500 bond with a court date of March 20.
