Fire Rips Through Rocky Hill Commercial Property

Firefighters dealt with the blaze and potentially hazardous materials Wednesday night.

ROCKY HILL, CT — Firefighters battled a blaze at a commercial property Wednesday night, according to a fire department Facebook post.

The department was called to 712 Brook St., Pro-Rez Performance Resins & Coatings, for a report of a fire alarm activation.

Crews arrived and found a commercial property with smoke showing and water flowing from beneath a loading dock garage door.

Firefighters determined this was an active fire and forced entry into the building. Crews found heavy smoke and flames coming from the rear of the building with sprinklers activated. The sprinkler system contained the fire until the fire department was able to make entry into the building.

Firefighters then attacked the blaze inside and extinguished the fire. They also identified potentially hazardous materials, which "proved to be no danger to personnel or the environment."

The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection was called to the scene for investigation and validation of the product.

The Wethersfield Fire Department provided an engine for town coverage.

Firefighters ventilated the smoke from the structure and cleared the scene at 10 p.m.

The fire marshal’s office and building maintenance are investigating.

There were no injuries to any occupants or emergency personnel.
