Gas Line Rupture Prompts Evacuation In Rocky Hill
Fire officials evacuated multiple nearby residences due to natural gas leak.
Several Rocky Hill residents had to be evacuated Wednesday morning after a construction crew damaged a natural gas line and caused a leak, fire officials said.
No one was injured in the incident.
The fire department was dispatched at 10:51 a.m. to 5 Drummond Dr. Responders determined gas was leaking from a damaged line approximately 10 feet from an apartment building at that address, according to the fire department.

Due to gas level readings, fire officials evacuated the Drummond Drive building and nearby buildings on Lathrop Lane.
Connecticut Natural Gas responded and was able to control the gas flow at 11:55 a.m. Residents were allowed to return to their homes around 12:22 p.m., after gas level readings registered at normal levels, fire officials said.
