Good Samaritan Rescues Operator, Dog After Boat Capsizes On CT River: FD
The rescue happened Tuesday afternoon on the Connecticut River near Ferry Park in Rocky Hill.
ROCKY HILL, CT — A Good Samaritan rescued a boat operator and dog after their vessel capsized on the Connecticut River Tuesday afternoon, fire officials said.
The Rocky Hill Fire Department posted about the dramatic rescue on its Facebook page Wednesday.
The boat capsized near Ferry Park, and firefighters, police and emergency medical personnel were dispatched to the scene around 2:19 p.m. Tuesday.

When first responders arrived, they saw the small overturned boat about 200 feet from the docks, fire officials said. The boat operator was in the water, holding onto the stern of a nearby vessel, while a dog was trapped under the overturned boat, according to the fire department.
A Good Samaritan on an approaching vessel was the first to reach the capsized boat, fire officials said. The person entered the water, brought the dog safely to the surface, and then brought both the dog and boat operator safely to the docks.

Emergency medical personnel treated the operator of the overturned vessel at the scene. Fire department personnel recovered the overturned boat and brought it to the dock at Ferry Park, fire officials said.
