House Fire Reported In Rocky Hill, Officials Say

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

ROCKY HILL, CT — Firefighters extinguished a basement fire on Saturday night in Rocky Hill.

At 7:02 p.m., the Rocky Hill Fire Department (RHFD) was called to 123 Bailey Road for the report of a structure fire located in the basement. Upon arrival, smoke was showing from a single-family residential house, officials said.

Multiple family members were in the front yard, and the fire department was able to determine that all occupants were out of the structure, officials said.

"A coordinated attack from both the front door and the basement from a hatchway door was made into the house and the fire was extinguished. Crews performed overhaul for any remaining hot spots," fire officials said.

The Rocky Hill Fire Marshal’s Office, EMS, and Task Force 51 were requested to the scene. Newington and Wethersfield Fire Departments assisted at the scene, while Berlin and Cromwell Fire Departments provided town coverage.

Bailey Road was closed to traffic by the RHFD from Textbook Avenue to Parsonage Street during the incident. There were no injuries to the residents or first responders.

The scene has been turned over to the fire marshal’s office for their investigation.
