"The Rocky Hill Riverfront Preservation Society has made a preliminary review of the latest Foundry plan submitted," said Ed Chiucarello, a spokesman for the Rocky Hill Riverfront Preservation Society. "We’ve noted concerns regarding compatibility with our historic neighborhood, river views, flooding, height-size and density of the proposed condos and mixed use.
"Our hope is that we can work together with the developer, town leaders and commissions to help reconnect Rocky Hill residents to the riverfront. The RHrfps works to preserve our riverfront community for generations to come."
The RHrfps has taken a proactive stance on anything connected with the riverfront on Rocky Hill banks. The RHrfps was very visible at recent hearings about the ferry and the proposed rate increase from $3 to $6.
The RHrfps states the proposed mixed use buildings along the Connecticut River simply don't fit in with the historic character of the Rocky Hill Glastonbury Ferry, its landing and Ferry Park.
Called "The Riverfront" architectural drawings by Do H. Chung & Partners, details buildings which will house a marine center, two residential buildings and two buildings which could house both residential or commerce.
There are several major projects that RHrfps is watching over; the dump, which is proposed to be capped, the foundry, which has this proposal to develop the area, and the ferry.
