New Atrium Director Bringing Memory Care Expertise to Community

Xrista Christopoulos, CNA, CDP Has Nearly a Decade of Experience Working with Alzheimer's, Dementia and Parkinson's

The Atrium at Rocky Hill, a Benchmark Mind & Memory Care community, today announced that Xrista Christopoulos, CNA, CDP, of North Haven, Conn., is contributing her passion for memory care to their community as its new executive director.

Christopoulos replaces Allyson Sweeney who was promoted to executive director of Benchmark’s Village at Buckland Court community in South Windsor, Conn. The two are working closely together to ensure a seamless transition for Atrium residents and their family members.

“I grew up in a large Greek family and there is nothing more important to me than family,” said Christopoulos. “I’m looking forward to strengthening our team here and working to ensure our residents and their families are supported in the best ways possible.”

Christopoulos is both a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) and a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP). She has nearly a decade of experience working with seniors with Alzheimer’s, dementia and Parkinson’s and other memory impairment disorders at memory care communities in Connecticut and Massachusetts. Before joining The Atrium, she was associate executive director of The Village at East Farms, a Benchmark assisted living and Mind & Memory Care community in Waterbury, Conn. She was also memory care director for Benchmark Senior Living on Clapboardtree in Norwood, Mass.

In addition to overall daily operations for the community, Christopoulos is excited to bring her enthusiasm for mind and body wellness programs to the community. She is Parkinson’s Fitness certified from the Parkinson’s Network and is a 200-hour registered yoga teacher through the Yoga Alliance. Christopoulos graduated from College of the Holy Cross with a major in human development and psychology and from Boston College with a minor in biology.

“Xrista was such a huge asset at The Village so when this opportunity presented itself, I knew she would be perfect for the role,” said Justin Grady, regional director of operations for Benchmark. “Allyson raised the bar high and I’m confident Xrista will do an excellent job at continuing to exceed expectations.”
