Overnight Fire Damages Rocky Hill Restaurant: FD
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation, according to the fire department.
ROCKY HILL, CT — A fire damaged the Saybrook Fish House restaurant early Thursday, and one firefighter suffered a minor injury while battling the blaze.
Firefighters responded to the 2165 Silas Deane Highway restaurant around 2:42 a.m. Thursday for a fire alarm, according to Deputy Fire Chief Brian Stevens.
When they arrived, they saw smoke coming from the rear of the building. Firefighters found an active fire in a utility room of the restaurant, according to Stevens.

Firefighters extinguished the blaze, and ventilated the building to remove smoke and toxic gases. Crews cleared the scene at 4:31 a.m., Stevens said.
One firefighter was taken to a local hospital after suffering an arm injury. The building had been unoccupied at the time the fire started, and no one else was injured, according to Stevens.

The fire marshal’s office is currently investigating the cause of the fire.
Fire Chief Michael P. Garrahy said the building sustained both fire and smoke damage.
“The fire damage was contained to a couple of rooms, but there was smoke damage throughout,” Garrahy said. “There will need to be repairs before the restaurant can reopen, and I’m not sure how long that will be.”
The fire marshal and building department officials are on scene this morning evaluating the full extent of the damage, according to Garrahy.
