Work Begins On New Cricket Field In Rocky Hill

Several projects, including a cricket field conversion, are taking place at the park, according to officials.

ROCKY HILL, CT — Rocky Hill Parks & Recreation Director Craig Bowman updated residents Monday on several projects taking place at Maxwell Park.

“You may notice a lot of extra activity within Maxwell Park in the coming weeks,” Bowman wrote in a post on Facebook. “Work is officially beginning on our cricket field conversion! During this time, soccer practices and/or games will not be impacted. However, parking at times may become compromised due to our contractors utilizing certain areas of the parking lot for staging. The Cricket pitch should be fully completed towards the end of October and ready for the spring 2025 season.

“In addition, you’ll notice our former roller hockey court fence has been removed. Beginning mid-September, construction will begin on this area to convert the space to a dual-use hockey/basketball court! This court, in addition to the tennis/pickleball courts as well as both fields have been re-lamped with LED fixtures this past summer.
