Ben & Jerry's? How About Dave & Dave's?
Dave & Dave's Ice Cream Parlor celebrated its grand opening on Howe Avenue Saturday.
A green and white '61 Nash Metropolitan with balloons in pastel colors lured traffic in downtown Shelton into Dave & Dave's Ice Cream Parlor at 507 Howe Avenue during its grand opening on Saturday.
Inside, long lines formed for cones, cups and waffle bowls filled with scoops of homemade flavors like Maple Walnut, Butter Pecan and Caramel Turtle. All waffle cones and bowls are also homemade.
David Grant, who also owns David M. Grant Caterers, owns the ice cream parlor with his son David.

"I thought of Ben & Jerry's and thought, 'How about Dave & Dave's?'" Grant Sr. said of the name Saturday.
The ice cream shop has an old fashioned theme with historic photos on the wall depicting scenes from downtown Shelton in the 1960s, the Shelton Basket Company in the 1930s and the Viaduct Bridge at 9 Bridge Street. There is also a Hopalong Cassidy poster.
