Popular Family-Run Sandwich Shop Plans To Open New Shelton Location Soon

SHELTON, CT — The Tasty Yolk, a popular sandwich shop specializing in inventive breakfast sandwiches and other creative menu items, plans to open its newest location in Shelton in early 2026.

Owners Eric Felitto and Mike Bertanza confirmed to Patch a new Tasty Yolk location is set to open soon at 99 Bridgeport Avenue in Shelton.

While an official opening date has not been set yet, the owners said they hope to open the Shelton restaurant in mid-January.

"The Tasty Yolk is a family business," Felitto and Bertanza said in an email to Patch, "and Shelton has been on our radar from the very beginning."

According to the owners, Shannon Criscuolo, Bertanza's cousin and manager of the small chain's Branford location, was born and raised in Shelton and has been encouraging Felitto and Bertanza to open a location in town for a number of years.

"When the right space became available, combined with Shelton's strong sense of community, support for local businesses and continued growth, it felt like the perfect next step," Felitto and Bertanza said. "We're especially excited that Shannon will be stepping into the role of manager at our Shelton location, bringing her experience home to serve her hometown."

In addition to Branford, Tasty Yolk currently operates stores in Stratford and the Black Rock area of Bridgeport, as well as a food truck.

The menu at each location consists of some unique items and specials, including popular items like "The Tasty," a sandwich made of craft chorizo, two eggs and cheddar on a toasted bun, as well as "The Crispy Mother Clucker," which consists of buttermilk fried chicken breast, pickled slaw and Korean BBQ sauce.

According to Felitto and Bertanza, customers in Shelton can expect the same commitment to quality, consistency, convenience and service they have come to know from each of their current Tasty Yolk locations.

The Shelton restaurant will feel very familiar to fans of the chain, with the same menu and counter service. Guests may even see some familiar faces as members of the current Tasty Yolk team transition to working in Shelton, Felitto and Bertanza said.

"What sets Shelton apart is that it will be our first location to offer tables and chairs for on-site dining," Felitto and Bertanza said, "along with a drive-through pickup window that, once available, will be accessible to customers who order ahead via text or through our online store."

The owners also noted they are excited to become part of the diverse and supportive local food community Shelton offers.

"[Shelton] residents enjoy a variety of dining options depending on the day," Felitto and Bertanza said, "and our goal is to offer quality breakfast and specialty sandwich options while supporting and growing alongside other local businesses."

In addition to inventive sandwiches and wraps, Tasty Yolk offers unique storefront specials at each location, as well as a variety of specialty burgers, burritos and even crunchwraps among other items.
