Car Strikes Tree, Passenger Extricated From Vehicle In Shelton: FD

A passenger was extricated from a car after the vehicle struck a tree in Shelton over the weekend, according to fire officials.

SHELTON, CT — A passenger was extricated from a car after the vehicle struck a tree Saturday night in Shelton, according to fire officials.

In a news release, officials said crews were called to the area of Federal Road and Sorell Drive around 8 p.m. after receiving a report of a motor vehicle accident with injuries.

When crews arrived in the area, they found the car had struck a tree and confirmed one of the passengers was trapped in the vehicle, which required extrication, officials said.

Crews stabilized the car as other members used hydraulic tools and battery-operated extraction tools to free the trapped passenger, officials said.

Crews removed the car's passenger side doors and roof to gain access to the person inside. The passenger was removed after approximately 20 minutes and EHAC provided care to the patient, who was taken to a local trauma facility for medical treatment, officials said.
