City of Shelton's Small Cities Block Grant Application

Shelton – the City of Shelton is applying for a $300,000 Small Cities Community Development Block Grant for Housing Rehabilitation from HUD and the Department of Economic and Community Development. The purpose of this grant is to assist low and moderate-income property owners in performing renovations on their homes with zero percent interest loans. While the principal focus of the renovations is code compliance and health and safety upgrades, other eligible activities include electrical and plumbing upgrades, roof replacement, and energy improvements.

At this time, the program is seeking homeowners interested in applying to the program. If interested, please call Ms. Charlene DeFilippo at 203-924-1555 x374 or Dr. Lisa Low, 203-888-5624 by May 20. We would like to hear from any homeowners who may be interested in taking advantage of this great opportunity to do some much needed home improvements.

“Shelton will benefit greatly from this grant,” says Charlene DeFilippo, from the Office of Community Development. “We are looking forward to improving housing stock in the City of Shelton. Most especially, we hope to see this as only the beginning of a multiple year activity.”

The grant application will be submitted in June and the awards will be announced in September.  We look forward to announcing the Application process upon award.
