WEDNESDAY
- Fire Prevention, room 104, 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.
A special one-hour session will be held by Shelton Fire Dept. staff on safety precautions and measures toward fire prevention. Open to all.

- Water Pollution Control Authority - Special Meeting, room 305, 7 p.m.
The WPCA meeting was supposed to be held last Wednesday, but was canceled because of the snow storm. Chairman Mike DeAngelis said that one topic of discussion on the agenda is Aspetuck Village Condominium Community. "They want us to help take over the private collections system -- the sanitary sewer system," he said.

Jan. 10 – 16 [Recap]
At last Tuesday's Planning & Zoning Commission meeting, the group voted 4-2 in favor of a zone change to the former Crabtree auto dealership property at the intersection of Bridgeport Ave. and Nells Rock Rd. The change will allow plans for development to move forward. Shelton developer Monty Blakeman wants to construct a food store, bank and coffee shop. More details .
At last Thursday night's Board of Aldermen meeting, Mayor Mark A. Lauretti argued that is superintendent of schools Freeman Burr could be awarded a bonus, the city should consider the same for the mayor's office. Though Lauretti has said that his request was more to make a point about the 's spending, the discussion seemed less ironic. View that video from the meeting .
Also during the Board of Aldermen meeting, Paul Jensen and Patrick Carey were reappointed to the Board of Assessment Appeals. Karen Monopoly and Thomas DeMarco were appointed to the EMS Commission.
